Coach Evaluates Women’s Singles Performance at the 2023 BWF World Championships: Enough very encouraging.

Coach PBSI’s women‘s singles trainer, Indra Widjaja, evaluated the achievements of his players at the 2023 BWF World Championships or BWF World Championships in Denmark last week. Even though they were stuck in the quarter-finals, he considered that the achievements of Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani were quite encouraging.

Gregoria was stopped in the top 8 round, while Putri KW was stopped in the second round Putri KW appeared encouraging and showed that there was progress when she met He Bing Jiao (China). She was able to play a rubber game with a fairly tight score,” said Indra in a written statement in Jakarta, August 28, 2023 .
“What is expected of Putri KW being able to appear on the field. In terms of mentality, how to play, and the application of playing strategies shows positive things. Even so, there are still many things that need to be improve,” he add.

Putri KW’s achievements allowe Indra to develop athletes who are currently rank 33 in the world more easily. “I hope that the good performance against He Bing Jiao should be a turning point. What’s more, it must be remember, to gain confidence like against He Bing Jiao is not easy.” Good performance like that shown against He Bing Jiao must be maintenance,” said Indra.

Apart from that, he also considered that Gregoria Mariska Tunjung’s achievement of breaking into the last eight of the 2023 World Championship was a positive achievement.

The opportunity to advance to the semifinals was close after the world number eight athlete lost to Akane Yamaguchi. “When facing Akane, Gregoria made a lot of unforced errors,” said Indra.
There was momentum, when she was far behind, Gregoria was able to catch up.

During her match at the World Championships, Indra revealed that Gregoria had an obstruction in her left knee. For this reason, the movement of the athlete from Wonogiri was not optimal. During the gap before going to the China Open, she must first focus on recovering her left knee. Before going to China, she can already recover. As long as she is not injury, I’m not worrie about her technique and physique.”

“It’s the same with Putri KW. At the China Open, it is hope that she can show her best performance and maintenance or continue this good momentum,” said Indra.
